Large Apple Wood "Live Edge" Dried Flower Vase. FInished with Acrylic Sanding Sealer and Lacquer.
This "Live Edge" is created by putting the Wood Log on the lathe, slightly offset from centre, so when cutting away the bark, one side is kept with the bark edge. The whole vase is then sanded and finished with acrylic lacquer, including over the bark, giving the whole vase a glossy appearance. I particularly love the way the grain of the wood flows around this vase. This vase was turned when the wood was still green, so its shape is likely to alter over time. This could also cause minor cracking, but that merely adds to its uniqueness and rustic good looks!
